This project started with the idea of creating an interesting database.

How can I make a database that IS the attraction just by using Airtable?

  1. Make it quantitative AND qualitative.
  2. Make it fun and a little funny.

A question my (incredible) wife often asks me when I’m struggling with a decision is “will you regret it?”

And that simple paradigm can make the answer clear.

But sometimes, I’m not sure. Sometimes, it seems like the options are equivalent – 6 one, half a dozen the other.

That got me curious about what other decisions people have made and whether they regret those decisions and why.

So, I made Did You Regret It – a directory of big life decisions and whether people regretted them, including their reasoning.

I’ll go first: Here’s something I regret: Not studying abroad in college. I wish I took up my college advisor on her suggestion of doing a semester in Spain. Traveling is awesome and it would’ve been great to spend a significant amount of time in another country.

Here’s one I don’t regret: Leaving the teaching profession. I was a high school math teacher for two years. It was hard, for little pay and even less respect. For me, I couldn’t motivate myself without compensation tied to the value I bring, rather than simply tenure. I’m glad because then I jumped into business and marketing and LOVE it.

Tech Stack:

  • ChatGPT – for writing much of the code.
  • JavaScript – programming language used.
  • Tailwind CSS – styling library for making the cards, wrap, buttons, etc. look slick and uniform.
  • Koder – for writing and testing the code on my iPad.
  • Github – code repository.
  • Vercel – hosting the web app.
  • GoDaddy – domain name server.
  • Airtable – where the data is stored.
